"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?'  And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."
Matthew 25: 37-40

How do you respond to Jesus' call above?  Be it with family or social relationships, or with your faith community, how have you responded to the needs of those around you?  It is recorded in the Gospel of Luke that Jesus said "...for the measure you give will be the measure you get back." (6.38)  A connection here can be made to Christ's commandment to "Love your neighbor as yourself."  It is so easy to love those who love us
back; to give and do things for those who in return give and do things for us.  But there is
absolutely no feeling like giving out the sake of loving; for responding to another's needs in
the truest, most living form of Christ's love for and in us all!

There are lots of ways to serve your community and respond to Jesus' call.  Feeding the poor, praying with the elderly, visiting the sick, or simply assisting at a parish-sponsored event.  Here, again, you have a youth program...and a youth minister...dedicated to helping you respond to the needs of those near and far.  There are many opportunities and many are responding...are you?!
