Social Justice Committee Prayer Intentions
August 2008

We pray for rain to shower down upon our community garden and upon the fields and farms that will provide food for the world’s peoples; bless all gardens with fruitfulness so that all may be fed.

We pray for a successful partnership between the Refugee Ministry and the International Center so that we may serve in the great effort to relocate peoples displaced by war and catastrophe. Bless our desire to bring life out of death, good from evil.

We pray that you strengthen with hope and courage all who suffer the hardships of life as refugees. We pray in a particular way for the Iraqi refugees who are fearful of relocation in our country; may we reassure them with the love of Christ.

We pray for the upcoming joint committee meeting on virtuous service; may it unify our ministries to work for the Kingdom of God.

We pray for blessings upon the work of all parish committees; may the work that each is called to do unite all as the Body of Christ.

We pray for those preparing for the parish mission trip to Mandeville. Open their hearts to the cries of the poor.

We pray for Bishop-elect Tiedemann; grant him wisdom and understanding as he leads a people who hunger and thirst for physical and spiritual sustenance.

We pray that those trained as teachers hear Your Voice in the call for teachers in the missions of Mandeville, particularly at the orphanage. We pray that the Jamaican children receive the education and tutorial help they need to lift themselves and their families from poverty.

We pray for our Ursuline sisters who are preparing to establish a presence of ministry in Jamaica. Bless them for their willingness to leave the familiar in order to say “yes” to You.

We pray for the efforts of our neighbors at St. Pius X to organize a Peace and Justice Committee. Help them to steer the course through the difficulties of social justice ministry.

We pray for the formation of Pilgrims of Hope. We ask that You transform their hearts to respond with missionary fervor and use their hands to facilitate the work of the missions in Jamaica.

O Loving God, hear our prayer. Amen.
